Budgets compare allocated amounts with current spend. They do not stop resources.

Read the page​

  1. Open Budgets.
  2. Note overall used vs amount.
  3. Open any line past its alert threshold (often 80%).
  4. Use Cost Explorer to see which service is consuming the line.

Thresholds in the current product​

Budgets support alert thresholds such as 50%, 80% and 100%. Routing those alerts to email or Slack is Preview.
