Azure recommendations

AvailableReviewed 24 August 2026

Azure recommendations are reviewable actions on Virtual Machines, managed disks, reservations and schedules. Accept records intent. Someone still changes the SKU, disk or reservation in Azure.

Azure recommendations queue with VM rightsizing, reservations, unattached disks and AKS scheduling
Filter the queue to Azure. Ready items have an owner who can change the resource.

Open the Azure queue

  1. Open Recommendations.
  2. Select Azure.
  3. Prefer items marked Ready.
  4. Open Details.
Rightsize checkout VMs from Standard_D8s_v5 to Standard_D4s_v5
Sample checkout-app-01/02 in rg-checkout-prod. 14-day CPU is 19–22%.

Rightsizing Virtual Machines

Azure rightsizing table with current SKU, suggested SKU and 14-day CPU
D8s_v5 → D4s_v5. Confirm the workload is not spiky and that reservations still fit.

Before you accept a downsize:

  • 14-day CPU is not hiding a Monday batch.
  • Availability set / zone and Premium SSD still match the smaller SKU.
  • Existing VM reservations still apply — see Azure reservations.
  • The owner will change size in the portal, Bicep or Terraform. FinomateAI does not resize the VM.

Other Azure recommendation types

TypeTypical resourceImplement in
Idle resourceUnattached managed diskPortal → Disks → Delete
SchedulingStaging AKS node poolResource scheduling plus cluster autoscaler
CommitmentVM or SQL reservationAzure Reservations + Azure reservations

After you accept

Savings Tracker shows the item as Pending until a later Azure bill confirms the lower meter. If the VM was never resized, it stays pending.

Expected result

One Azure recommendation is accepted or explicitly deferred, with an owner and an Azure change path.
